The Death of the Republican Party
It is amazing that the Republican Party could so damage itself, so completely, within such a short amount of time.
Still reeling after the frustration of the Harriet Miers outrage, then the anger at the Dubai Port Deal....
Illegal Immigration, one of the hottest and most visible problem for many Americans, has been completely screwed up by our representatives.
The majority of Americans want a wall to help curb the flow of illegal aliens into this country and do not favor amnesty at all. Do you think Congress and the Senate listened to the MAJORITY of "We the People"?
Of course not, they ignored what "We the People" wanted, essentially giving us the finger and telling us that they will do things THEIR way, and not what WE want.
I am ANGRY!
And I am not the only one.
I really do believe this is the final straw for Republicans, they signed away their rights to stay in office as our representatives. While others may vote for Democrats to spite these Republicans, other Republican voters may very well stay home on Election day.
Democrats will regain power, especially after this debacle with immigration and the whining of both Democrat and Republicans about Jefferson's office being searched with a WARRANT (especially after, it seems, Jefferson tried to hide evidence).
The American Public is getting more and more frustrated and angry with the imperial attitudes of those in Congress and the Senate. We are getting frustrated at the amount of corruption ON BOTH SIDES of the aisle. When you say Culture of Corruption, Democrats best include yourselves in with those corrupt Republican also.
If others are only half as angry as I am because of what is going on with this Administration then Republicans should be very scared, but they are too full of themselves to probably notice the trouble they are in.
Let not forget FBI gets a warrant to search a congressmans office because he is caught on tape and to be charged with bribery and other crimes, and Bush Orders FBI-Congress Documents Sealed that were seized in the WARRANT obtained search.

By the way, it seems the majority of Americans have no problem with Federal Law Enforcement (FBI) searching our representatives offices as long as they have a warrant:
And they seem to have forgotten, that these offices are NOT theirs, those offices are the AMERICAN PEOPLES offices. We elect you to office and you utilize those spaces to represent our interests.
At least Delay resigned, Jefferson steadfastly says he will not resign.
Why is it that Republicans need to resign when caught and the Democrats do not?
And let us not forget the 'Duke':
I have NO PROBLEM having these representatives offices searched, as long as it is with a warrant.
I have no problem rooting out and getting rid of all, Democrat and Republican, crooks, swindlers, bribers, sexual deviants, and any other illegal and unethical conduct not befitting a Congressman or Senator.
We don't elect you to office so you can make yourself rich off our backs, out of our pocketbooks.
Republicans, I will say this to you.....
You better wake up!
The American people, especially your base, has had it with you.
We are watching VERY CAREFULLY....
We are taking down names of those that disappoint or infuriate us....
We are watching to see who is corrupt...
We are watching those who sell us out...
We are watching YOU, we will remember the names of those who do not listen on election day...
... and it won't be good for you.

Arlen Specter, according to Congressman John Kyl of Arizona, slipped a provision into the Immigration Bill the Senate passed today requiring the U.S. to consult with Mexico BEFORE building a wall in any area along the border.
Senator Dodd talked against a fence on May 18, and his S.Amdt.4089 contains the following language:
(b) CONSULTATION REQUIREMENT.--Consultations between United States and Mexican authorities at the federal, state, and local levels concerning the construction of additional fencing and related border security structures along the United States-Mexico border shall be undertaken prior to commencing any new construction, in order to solicit the views of affected communities, lessen tensions and foster greater understanding and stronger cooperation on this and other important issues of mutual concern.
Republicans who voted for the Mexican consultation requirement:
Bennett, Bond, Brownback, Chafee, Coleman, Collins, Craig, Graham, Hagel, Lugar, Feingold, Collins, McCain, Specter, Stevens, Warner, Martinez, Murkowski, Snowe and Voinovich
Democrats who voted against:

That view is broadly bipartisan, this ABC News poll finds, ranging from 78 percent among Democrats to 94 percent of Republicans.

A tearful, trembling Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham (R-Rancho Santa Fe) resigned Monday after pleading guilty to receiving $2.4 million in bribes from military contractors and evading more than $1 million in taxes.
The money involved makes Cunningham's the largest bribery case since several members of Congress were convicted of the crime in the early 1980s.
The downfall of Cunningham, an eight-term congressman and decorated Navy fighter pilot from the Vietnam War, began with revelations about the sale of his house in Del Mar Heights to a military contractor at an inflated price two years ago.
But in a plea agreement, Cunningham admitted a pattern of bribery going back to 2000, with contractors supplying him with Persian carpets, silver candelabras, a Rolls-Royce, antique furniture, travel and hotel expenses, use of a yacht and a lavish graduation party for his daughter.
In return, Cunningham used his high-ranking position in Congress — he served on the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and the House Intelligence Committee — to "influence the appropriations of funds and the execution of government contracts."
"I broke the law, concealed my conduct and disgraced my high office," Cunningham, 63, said outside the federal courthouse. "I know I will forfeit my freedom, my reputation [and] my high office." Cunningham left without answering questions.
